Definitely the bathrooms need to be cleaner!!!

Very friendly front desk staff on day of my visit. 10.8.2017. Recent refresh of interior paint and other upgrades/investments. New LED lighting here and there shows owners are investing into their property. New linens and towels. Free breakfast was extensive. My room had microwave mini fridge and name brand 32" flat screen tv.

Although the building was older, it seems to have recently been updated and our room was nice. New bed and pillows were very comfortable but the bed squeaked. Also the room had an older heating unit so the fan cycled on and off instead of a of steady noise. Fix squeaky bed and heater unit and it would be another star from us.

I have stayed here several times. Place is clean, beds are comfortable. Breakfast is simple but good. Some rooms are nosier than others due to road locations. Its a two story with no elevator to second floor. Overall, a good value for what you pay.

On the other side the Continental breakfast is not only free but it actually test very good! My favorite were the scrambled eggs, freshly made! All that being said I rather have cleaningness over food.

I have never actually walked out of a hotel in the middle of the night until “staying at” this Quality Inn for a whole 4-hours last night. My family has had a very turbulent year and my husband gifted me the opportunity to go away for an overnight to have a break in Holland for the weekend. I picked out this hotel because the rate was reasonable. The second I walked into the lobby my senses were hit with the overwhelming odor of perfumed cleaning products that was nauseating. I figured, “it’s just the lobby, it’ll be fine.” After checking in I walked through a few doors to get to the hallway that would take me to my room. The odor in this hallway was even worse in that it smelled like something was decomposing, or like sewage. It was not much better in the bedroom, and when I took a shower the heat and moisture in the air just made it worse. I can deal with a lot from a hotel as far as cleanliness issues, and have plenty of times before with other hotels, but what I cannot deal with is spending hours tossing and turning with sleeplessness in a smelly hotel when I am supposed to be relaxing. The hotel staff, when I called this morning, basically called me a liar and said all they could smell was “disinfectant” and that maybe I just have a sensitive sense of smell. No. Wrong. Wrong answer to someone spending almost $100 a night. As I was checking out I explained my situation and was not offered another room, not that I would have taken them up on it. As I said, it was the whole hotel not just the one room. I was told by the nice night associate that he did not have the authority to issue a refund or a rate adjustment and that I would need to call the next morning to resolve it. I was disgusted but accepted it and left. I called this morning and had the exchange I described above. I was told they could give me a whopping $17 back for the 4 hours of misery in their hotel. And this was coming from a manager. I was told any further refund or rate adjustment would need to be approved by their general manager who would be in tomorrow (Sunday). I said I would absolutely not do business on a Sunday, we would be in church all morning, especially not for something I was told would be handled today. I called Choice Hotels and filed a formal complaint. That process will also take up to 72-hours for a resolution. No other hotel chain has ever made things this difficult on my family. I will never go to this hotel or any other Choice hotel again. Oh and by the way, while they are in the process of deciding whether my complaint and situation is worthy of a refund, when I type in my confirmation number to write a review on their website, it says "Our apologies. We are unable to confirm your stay." Interesting. So the system can't even process me as a customer last night because I was there for such a short time and they still need days to figure out if they want to give me a refund?

UPDATE 10/30/17, Upon reviewing my credit card activity I see that the original pending charge for my reservation has gone through as a full blown credit card charge AND there is now an additional pending charge for a second night. What is the matter with this hotel? Currently waiting for someone to pickup at the Choice Hotels 800-number for an explanation. The Holland hotel manager has not called me back either as I was told she would this morning. It's almost noon.
