Both classes I attended were so packed we had to turn in the same direction to get into the pose and fit in the room (again, not individualized). If you're looking for a boot camp style workout, you will probably love this.
I like the friendliness of the staff/yoga instructors. I also enjoy the challenging classes that many of the instructors teach.
So I signed up for the 30 days for $39 new student package and it was a waste of money for me. I was sure after one class, but tried it twice to get a good feel for the studio. I did give it two stars because it was clean and comfortable on the inside. The reason I went here was because I love hot yoga and there are not a lot of options near Holland. After practicing yoga at a near perfect location, Wilmington Yoga Center, this studio did not fit my needs at all.
I've decided that either a person is going to love yoga or they are going to hate it. I have personally fallen in love with it and cannot begin to tell you how much better I feel physically and emotionally since I started participating. I have my own faith so I don't enter in to that aspect, however, there is no end to the benefits a person can get from the stretching and relaxation yoga offers. Stress relief?? You betcha!! It the biggest way! Bring your uptight stressed out body to yoga and you will leave a new person. I sweat up a storm and all the tension and toxins flow out with it. And did I mention I am going through menopause?? Hot flashes are a thing of the past. I struggle the most with emotional highs and lows and have been on hormone therapy to address it all. No more. Yoga has helped me to get that inner physical sense of well being apart from HRT. Going to yoga isn't easy some times....I'll admit it. BUT, I am always glad I've gone. Try it, if you need the things I have needed, you won't be disappointed!!
I was really hoping for traditional hot yoga and this was more of an energetic workout. I am an experienced yogi and believe that yoga requires proper form and alignment, along with focused breathing to be safe and effective. Getting into postures correctly requires time to transition and concentration. For me, every class should be about the instruction of yoga and improving my practice. At Funky Buddha, the classes are not clearly separated by level and each level is not offered everyday. There are also no variations offered for each pose, making it difficult to have an individualized practice based on your specific needs.
Very friendly, informative, helpful, & inclusive. Hoping to make Funky Buddha a regular thing for me!
It's a GREAT butt-kicking workout! I love the atmosphere and ambience of the studio (Holland). I always enjoy going to class. Everyone is super friendly and we all enjoy the classes. There is a variety of classes, but no matter the class, be prepared to work--if you're so inclined. If not, just relax on your mat and enjoy the heat.
