If in doubt take a photo of the mirror before each step as a visual record.

5) GENTLY apply firm, steady, slow pressure as close to the windshield as possible and rotate COUNTERCLOCKWISE about 30 degrees to release the mirror.

3) send it overnight or priority mail to minimize the mirror's exposure to temperature and air pressure differences that could exacerbate any leakage.

I own a 2002 BMW M Roadster and the auto-dimming mirror developed a slow leak of the electro-chromic fluid which created a bubble. A quick web search lead me to Symbesma. The service was quick, inexpensive, and very responsive. I had my mirror fixed in under a week and it works perfectly.

1) if your mirror starts to fail, removed it immediately as the fluid can corrode your dash plastics. I will describe the process below.

Very fast and great customer service!!!! I had my rear view mirror repaired and the price was reasonable compared to buying a new one.

4) unplug the mirror (the toughest step)

My auto-dim rearview mirror (BMW 3 series 2005) failed and a bubble appeared in the mirror. I mailed the mirror to Sybesma Electronics and it was fixed and came back to me within two days of them receiving it. I did the express service option. It was good as new. The price was very reasonable and cost much, much less than buying a new one.

2) use tape to seal the edges of your mirror before shipping and wrap it in a towel in case it leaks. If it leaks the shipper will be obligated to open it using hazardous materials protocols which means you'll lose your mirror.

2) use finger to gently lift panel on the attachment "stalk" off

A couple of things I should mention:

How to remove mirror (see photos)

3) put the panel in a safe place!

The Chromatic auto dimming mirror in my BMW 330ci convertible started leaking. Called the dealer and the cost was $600 for a new mirror and $150 to take it off and reinstall the new one. Looking on the internet for a realistic alternative, I found Sybesma's Electronics and sent my mirror in. (BTW, taking the mirror off and reinstalling it was a breeze, certainly not worth paying BMW $150 to take it off and put it back on). Sent it in on the evening of 7/14/2014 and had it back by the morning of 7/19/2014 in perfect working order. This is a very impressive company and the price and service was excellent. The leaking mirror is well known on Beamers, keep this company in mind when it happens to you.....they're great!
