I brought the vehicle in, and they did the repair. I dropped it off on a Friday, and it took them over a week to fix it. I don't have another vehicle I can use to get to work and back, and they don't offer loaners. They did the repair and at the agreed upon price, but I could tell that they were frustrated with me because they had to do it at that price. I thanked them over and over, because they were saving me over a grand for this repair. Still didn't seem very happy.
Holland, Hamilton, Allegan.... you are fortunate to have this busness as a part of your community!
Not worth it...
Fair and honest people that do quality work and actually treat you like a longtime customer. This is the kind of repair shop you hope to find when your daughter is out of town and her vehicle breaks down. M-40 Auto Repair went above and beyond in so many ways to help resolve our problem.
Thank you M-40 Auto Repair
I've been bringing my vehicles here for years. Family owned shop with great mechanical service and even better customer service. Extremely fair pricing. Couldn't ask for better.
I had to bring a vehicle in to M-40 because of a leaky head gasket on my '08 Chevy Aveo. The only reason I brought it here was because I was able to work something out with the dealer I purchased the car from so that M-40 Auto would do the repair at a discount. That whole mess is another story (read my review of Brian at Hyway Auto Sales).
A few weeks later the exact same symptoms that I experienced with the leaky head gasket showed up. I called M-40 right away, and explained everything. They had me drop it off and they said they would look into it. I dropped it off in the morning, and by mid afternoon they had called and said that the head gasket was fine, but there was a misfire on one of the cylinders, and the plug boot on that cylinder was damaged. The guy actually told me that he probably damaged it when he took the head off the last time. He repaired the boot for me and said that the coolant smell was due to a leak in the radiator. Radiators don't just leak.. I had never seen a puddle of coolant on the ground (trust me, with the issues I've had with this car, I watch the fluid levels like a hawk) nor had I seen any leaks around the radiator. He said it was going to be over $400 to replace the radiator, and recommended that the plugs and wires be changed. I told him that I had brought the car in earlier due to the head gasket and they did that for a discount. Since they hadn't actually fixed the issue, (car chugging and lagging, and coolant smell/thick white smoke on startup) that they should do the radiator at the same discount as was agreed upon for the original repair. They said no.
I told them I would just pick up my vehicle and take it somewhere else. They left me an invoice in the car for $50. $50 to "fix" something that the mechanic told me HE PROBABLY BROKE IN THE FIRST PLACE! I'm never bringing another vehicle here again. I'm sorry I ever got wrapped up with this shop in the first place.
