Convenient office hours that range from:
The only way to interact with the MI SOS, is face to face, or online email. There is only one phone number for every branch, and it goes to an automated phone system, and pusing 0 to reach an operator is not an option. There is no possible way to communicate via telephone.
Arrived here for a renewal. Haven't been in a while. When I got to the desk, the workout asked if I had checked in. I answered, "that's what I'm doing now." She sarcastically replied, no, right there, at the computers. See the big signs? How could you miss it?"
The prices here are a bargain. And we wonder what keeps us coming back every year...
Insightful, and never confusing.
Customer service reps, take notes from this staff. You'll gain lots!
If you just missed the mark after a few short hours in line next to other friendly strangers, it's okay. The staff is reasonable, and will work with you. Here's the exciting part! You get to jump back into the social gathering of well-mooded strangers just eager to meet and greet you for another couple hours!
BOTTOM LINE:
Patient, and courteous.
Your exact work schedule. No weekends.
30:1
Bright, and lively atmosphere.
Honestly, I think its silly that people complain about the waiting line being long. I got there and waited 6 minutes before I was called. What's the secret, you ask? Plan ahead! They have a very convenient system online that allows you to book an appointment in advance so that when you arrive, you literally don't even have to check in, you just sit down and wait for the last 4 digits of your phone number to be called. The line was 2 hrs long when I got there and I was the only one in the appointment line, so I got to skip that whole two hours. Not to mention the staff was extraordinarily kind and helpful. The lady who helped me was very knowledgeable and, despite it being 5pm on a Wednesday, she didn't seem tired or grumpy at all!
Condescending b!t¢π**. I'm the only person in line, and your process is new. Grow some manners. As for me, I'm leaving to drive to the office in Grand Haven. It will be friendlier, and just as quick, because they won't have a lobby filled with people. BTW, thanks for ruining my day on 5/5/17 at 2:45pm.
Exciting and family friendly fun! (You never know what kind of errands they'll send you on! Kids? It's like an easter hunt! Military? Consider it a mission, sir! Or maybe you fancy a pirate, ya scurvy kurr. Let's go and get that treasure! Or form.)
Didn't know about the appointments, but I'd definitely recommend it. Even with a 90 minute wait, I was able to check in, go get lunch, do some shopping and then come back. They send you texts when it's getting close to your turn so you don't lose your spot.
Very comfortable seating.
Courteous, friendly staff that would absolutely, never, urgently send you on your way, feeling somewhat confused for the twelfth trip back....that day....over paperwork that had 30 forms for 1 issue. Aw shucks, better guess again, otherwise where's the fun in it?! Or maybe you've guessed right, but with that correct form, there is another form within that form, and one last form within that. Sort of like "Inception (of forms)".
So, the takeaway from all of this is to save yourself tons of time and use the online system! Just google "Secretary of State online check in"!
The ratio of customers to staff is about the same as issue-at-hand to paperwork:
